The Creative Content Company are thrilled to confirm that we have been chosen as finalists for the SME Cambridgeshire Awards. We announced recently that Hazel, the owner and founder of Creative Content Company had been announced as finalist for Business Woman of the Year in these awards. However, we have since found out that Creative Content Company is a finalist for Community Business of the Year.

This is an award that we are really pleased to be finalists for. This is because it means we have been recognised as a business that cares about the community and we have been recognised for the work we do.

As a business we do a lot in the community, often a lot of it is not known about. For example, we stand as Chairperson for Parnwell Residents Association and have done for two years. This is a local area that has faced many troubles over the last few years, many of which we have actively resolved.

We are Shift Coordinators and on the Steering Group for Light Project Peterborough and the Winter Night Shelter. This is a project that helps homeless people in Peterborough. We are involved throughout the year, and very heavily involved in during the winter months.

We are on the committee for National Literacy Trust in Peterborough. A group that raises awareness of lack of reading skills in Peterborough while raising money through events, such as Quiz Nights and Comedy Nights. We also encourage volunteer reading buddies to go into schools and read with students.

As well as this we are on the Peterborough Sports Club Lunch / Peterborough SportsAid committee. Through lunchtime speaker events every quarter we are able to raise essential funds for local talented children in sports. This is a nationwide group, but one I am proud to represent in Peterborough.

These are just some of the main ways in which we focus our attention in Peterborough and our local community. We do this, and publicise that we do this, to help encourage others to support their communities too.

The winner of the Community Business of the Year category will love and breathe the old adage about giving something back to their community, as stated by SME Awards. Having looked at the other finalists we know there is no way to guess who the winner may be.

The finalists are Girl Friday VA Ltd, Happy Nana Cafe, Over Power Cambridge, Sookio and Switch Now CIC. We know finalists such as Girl Friday VA as she is a client we have worked for, and we have spoken at a digital event with Sookio and known her for some years.

Just by looking at the websites of the other finalists we know this will be an incredible award category and have no idea of the outcome. However, we will keep you posted on the night via social media and in a blog after the event.
