This year, 2022, marks 50 years of Pride in the UK. In the month of July, I will be joining hundreds of people to take part in the Pride 50 Challenge. Those taking part in the Pride 50 Challenge will be LGBTQIA+ people and their allies.

I will be doing 50 of something every single day to raise awareness, support and funds for the LGBTQIA+ community. I am a proud ally. This is my very small way of supporting this community.

Please feel free to sponsor me if you would like to. I will start from 1st July, 2022.

Also, feel free to suggest ideas of ’50’ things too. My current ideas are squats, exercise class, dancing, walking, etc. So, more ideas are very welcome.

Pride is celebrated during the month of June. This is because June was the month when the Stonewall riots took place. The Stonewall Riots were extremely important protests. They took place in America in 1969 and changed gay rights for a lot of people not just in America, but also around the world.

Meanwhile, the Pride event in Peterborough this year is taking place in August. This is why I felt I should complete my Pride 50 Challenge during the month of July. Right in the middle of Pride month and the Pride event in my local city.

Pride is a wonderful celebration of people that come together in love and friendship. It shows how far rights for the LGBTQIA+ community have come. However, it also highlights how much work there is still to be done in this community.

Pride month and Pride in Peterborough is all about acceptance, equality and celebrating the work of the LGBTQIA+ community. It raises awareness of the community, it’s history and the challenges that the community faces. Pride is all about being proud of who you are, no matter who you love.

This is why I am taking part in the Pride 50 Challenge. To show others I support them, and to raise money to help support them further. You would be more than welcome to join me in this challenge. Or you could sponsor me if you would prefer.
