We recently attended the Small Business Awards – Peterborough awards ceremony and what a fabulous night we had. The evening was really well organised and it was brilliant to be surrounded by friends, old clients, current clients, potential clients, local small business owners, businesses owners of businesses I had used and people in business that I had networked with before.

I was lucky enough to have been nominated, and then shortlisted for 3 awards;

  • Peterborough Personality of the Year Award
  • Peterborough Small Service Business of the Year Award
  • Peterborough Small Inspirational Business Owner of the Year Award

I was shortlisted with some amazing businesses and having only made finalist level at these awards last year, I fully expected this to be exactly the same this year. However, as you may have seen on social media – I was wrong.

The first award I was up for was the personality award and although hoping to win the award myself, I was really pleased that Ed Smith of Peterborough Biscuit was the winner of the award and an extremely worthy winner too.

The finalists were then confirmed for the service business award and I was very surprised when they called out ‘Creative Content Company’. This was really exciting for us and brilliant to have an award that shows as a business that we are awesome.

The finalists were then confirmed for the Inspirational Business Owner. This was just after the break and I was chatting in the foyer when Donna from Locks and Shades ran out to tell me I had won the award and was wanted on stage. Again, complete shock. I didn’t expect to leave with one award, let alone two!

At the end of the awards they then read out the winner of the Overall Award, this was Peterborough Small Business of the Year and all 40 finalists were entered into this competition. The prize alongside the award was a year’s advertising at Serpentine Green.

I was stunned into silence when they read out Creative Content Company – a week later I was still walking on Cloud Nine and still couldn’t quite believe it. Out of all the businesses in Peterborough, little old me and Creative Content Company had been chosen as the best of the best!?!?!

As I said on the night, and I will say again – I could not have done this without the awesome support from my partner, my family, my clients, my friends, those people in business we network with and pretty much, anyone I have ever met – you have all made me the person I am today, and the MULTI (eep) award winning business owner that I have become.
