Tuesday 8th March is International Women’s Day. This is a hugely important date for the diary. It is a global day that has been chosen to celebrate and recognise the social, economic, cultural and political achievements by women and girls across the world. This day is also used as a time to make progress on achieving gender quality, while creating awareness for the tasks that need to be done.

It is a great idea to share your support for International Women’s Day on social media for your business. However, you may be unsure how to go about this. In this blog post we share some of the many ways that you can show support for women on this day.

  • Spotlight Your Team

Why not use this day as an opportunity to shine a light on the awesome women in your business. Talk about what they do, how long they have been doing it. Celebrate their achievements in your social media posts too. Not only will you be recognising your own staff, but you will also be promoting who they are to your target audience. This helps them put a face to the name too.

  • Attend An Event

While it may be too late to organise an event for this year, you could look for an event to attend. There are some brilliant International Women’s Day events taking place in Peterborough, if you are based locally. Make sure you share you are attending the events on social media. This will help encourage more people to attend. On the day, make sure you take lots of photos and share them on social media too. This will show you are supporting the incredible day of celebration and recognition.

  • Encourage Engagement

Use your social media pages to start conversations and engage with your audience. There are lots of graphics and social media templates available themed towards International Women’s Day. You can share these messages and share your own messages too.  Ask your audience questions about the women in their lives of ask women the struggles they have faced themselves.

  • A Giveaway

Why not run a giveaway throughout International Women’s Day? You can ask your audience to nominate a loved one for your prize. Ask them to tell you why they have nominated this person and what makes them so great. This will make a great place for the sharing of incredible women. The prize can then be as big or small as you choose. Anything from a box of chocolates or a bunch of flowers, to something more relevant to your business or unique.

These are just some ideas for social media posting for International Women’s Day. Give them a go yourself and promote your business as a business that cares. Don’t forget, when you are social media posting for International Women’s Day use the hashtag; #InternationalWomensDay22
