We speak to a lot of people in business that are looking at, or currently marketing their business on social media. A lot of small businesses are marketing on Facebook, but is it working?
There are certain things you need to do to gain success from small business marketing on Facebook. You need to be active on social media. This means posting frequently, but also posting useful content. There is no point in posting for the sake of posting.
You also need to ensure that you respond to people that are responding or engaging with you on social media. Here at Creative Content Company we recommend social media scheduling in our social media training sessions. However this needs to be done with care. You can’t schedule great content, that gets loads of engagement, and then you never respond!
Facebook will work really well for some business and it really won’t work for other businesses. If you are unsure if your small business should be marketing on Facebook think about your target audience. Are they on Facebook and is Facebook the place they want to see your business or offerings advertised?
We recently came across some research that looked at the presence of small businesses on Facebook and this is what the research found;
- 42% of small businesses in the UK have a Facebook presence and find that this is valuable to their business and their marketing.
- 30% of small businesses using Facebook as a marketing tool do not find it useful.
- 23% of small businesses within the UK do not currently have a presence on Facebook for their business.
- 5% of small businesses within the UK have had a business presence on Facebook but found it had no value to them, so they no longer have a business presence on this social media platform.
If your target audience are on Facebook and you are posting the right things, in the right way – then you will find Facebook to be a valuable marketing tool for your business.
