As we have discussed in previous blog posts, Hazel Cottrell, our Owner and Founder, is an associate for Talentino is on the hunt for amazing people in business who are willing to donate one hour a week for 7 weeks to mentor special needs students in Peterborough.
Hazel has been speaking to many businesses and lots have been keen to get on board with this amazing opportunity. We know why we are happy to get involved in this project and we know all the great benefits for businesses, but we wanted to know why these fantastic people in business also wanted to get involved and this is what they had to say;
David Balls, The Director of JD Interior Solutions said;
“I wanted to apply to be a mentor to give something back to our local community, and help the adults of tomorrow become all they want to be and fulfil their potential, as a business owner it hasn’t always been easy but with hard work and determination anything is possible.”
Charlotte Fountain, Community Champion at Tesco said;
“At Tesco Hampton we are passionate and enthusiastic about helping our local community and therefore try to get involved in as many projects and schemes as we can. We are eager to support young people in particular, as they are our next generation of colleagues and customers. It is exciting to be able to showcase what our company has to offer from equal opportunities and pay, to colleague benefits and privileges.”
Rachel Bamber, Owner of Brighter Thinking said;
“I’m extremely grateful at this new opportunity to give back and mentor school children.I’ve mentored new professional coaches (adults) for many years and discovered that mentoring is a two way benefit: the mentee enjoys the support, stretch and experience of their mentor and as a mentor, the joy of developing confidence and encouraging someone to flourish is amazing! I’ve noticed that I’ve naturally further developed my own skills as well – this is great for my own business. I am really excited at making a positive impact with Talentino – and having fun too!”
These are just three of the superb businesses that have said yes to mentoring a group of 8 special needs students in Peterborough for 1hr a week for 7 weeks – do any of these reasons resonate with you or perhaps there is another reason you would like to be involved with our mentoring project in Peterborough.
