Back in September 2013, when I first started Creative Content Company, I couldn’t afford the expensive membership fees of networking groups. I went along as a visitor to different groups and loves what they did. It was clear to see how they worked and how they could work for me. However, as a brand-new business, I just couldn’t afford the monthly membership fees as well as the meeting costs.
This is when I decided to launch Creative Networking. It was a membership free networking event in Peterborough. We started with a breakfast event once a month at The Hampton in Peterborough. This quickly led to monthly coffee mornings at The Marriott Hotel and lunchtime networking at the Beijing Rendezvous. We also ran afternoon tea networking at Dobbies. They were great events which enabled me to meet likeminded businesses.
So, here I am, nearly 9 years on from starting my business and about 7 years on from stopping Creative Networking events. I’ve been thinking about the networking groups I attend and how they work for me. I have been thinking about the costs of memberships and meeting fees too. There are still people that are in the position I was when I started. Those that can’t afford membership fees and meeting costs. Yet, these business owners all have the potential to grow their businesses.
So, after much thought and deliberation, (along with a chat to my good friend Edward Smith of The Peterborough Biscuit Business Event), it looks like Creative Networking will be reborn.
We are looking to start with 2 events a month in Peterborough. One will be a morning coffee and cake. The other will be an afternoon coffee and doughnut or eclair.
One of the key values for the relaunched Creative Networking is to support local businesses and the local community. This will be clear to see in the prices we charge attendees and the venues we have chosen.
