When Blogging Don’t Make It All About You

When Blogging Don’t Make It All About You

Sometimes it’s hard to know what to blog about, you sit down to write a blog post and all you can come up with are things that you are doing, special offers you have on at the moment or a new product or service you can offer the readers – but don’t make all your blogs about you!

Your blog and subsequent blog posts should not reflect on you and only you. Imagine you’re at a dinner party and you meet someone and all they do is talk about themselves and what they have been doing – it’s very annoying isn’t it?

The difference between a dinner party and your blog posts is that manners stop you walking away from the boring person, however when you are reading a blog it’s very easy to press the ‘x’ in the corner and maybe even go to the competition!

When people go to the internet they are often looking for a solution to their problem or an answer to their question. Not everyone goes to the internet to buy something, but sometimes a solution or helpful answer may lead to a sale.

So what sort of things could you write about? Speak to your team and see if there are any questions they are frequently asked, then put this question and a helpful and informative answer into the blog post and you’ll find it will be a valuable resource to many visitors to your website. This is a great way of making yourself a ‘trusted friend’ and when the reader is ready to purchase, you will be the company they think of.

For example, have a look at the blog posts and topics we write about on our blog, we often use things we see people asking questions about on Twitter and other social media platforms. We write about our networking events, things we do in the community and for charity. We don’t feel that ‘sales pitches’ work as blog posts and that’s why we try and stick to ‘helpful, informative and engaging’ when we are creating blog posts. We hope you found this blog post to be exactly that?
