Here at Creative Content Company we send a lot of newsletters. These go to our clients, target audience and people that we meet networking. We are also finding that we are writing newsletters for more and more clients all the time.
However, while promoting this to other business owners we are being asked what people should include in an email newsletter. Which we thought we would cover in this blog post. People want to know what to put in an email newsletter.
Your Logo – It is a really good idea to have your logo on a newsletter. Maybe even a photo of you, if you are a small business owner, or a one-person business. Having this at the top of the newsletter helps the reader quickly understand who the newsletter is from as they recognise your business or you.
A Brief Intro – This should be a few short lines that reminds the reader who you are and what your business does. Very often if you offer more than one service. For example, the customer may only know you for one thing. A newsletter talking about the other things you do as a business will help educate them.
Links To Your Website – The reason you are sending newsletters is to direct more traffic to your website. You can share latest news with links to the full blog posts on your website. Alternatively a link to a service or product that is relevant at that time of the year.
Special Offer – This should be something that is only available to people that read your newsletter, or are newsletter subscribers. This could be a reduced price offer, a bulk buy deal or a 2-for-1 deal for example. What would be relevant and useful to the reader?
Testimonials – I prefer to put these in the base of the email newsletter and I make sure I change them each month. This gives the business a chance to show that you have happy clients. All while enabling your clients words to sell your business for you!
There are other things you can include in your email newsletter, such as a team member interview, a top tip of the month. Potentially a date to remember, upcoming events or events you are going to that you can be found out for example.
Just make sure you choose how often you will send the email newsletter, and you stick to it! Repetition is the key to success. No matter what you put in an email newsletter.
