We recently created a blog post helping you to promote your business through social media and we based it on Facebook. This time we are going to help you understand how you can use Twitter to promote your business.

Firstly, and in our opinion most importantly, use that search section. In the top right hand corner there is a space that says ‘search’ – this is where people using twitter will search for what they need. For example they may be searching for social media help. If I type ‘social media help’ into Twitter it will then bring up every single person that has written ‘social media help’ in their tweet and this is then really, a list for me of potential clients.

I don’t want to hound and spam those people, instead I could share a blog post that would help them or answer a query they have. I could advice or give them my number so they could give me a call. This would be one way of promoting my business as a business that cares and wants to be your trusted friend – not shove your products and services down their throat.

Next, you want to look at the tweets you are sending on Twitter. If they all say ‘Like our Page on Facebook’, ‘Go To Facebook to find out more’ or consistently talk about the followers you have on Facebook – why are you on Twitter anyway? All you are doing is directing people to your Facebook page?

You also need to make sure you are not ramming your business down everyone’s throats – this is not promoting your business in a good way, and isn’t really promoting your business at all. To promote your business through social media you need to be sociable, you need to help others, talk to others and engage with others to promote your business on Twitter.

These are just some ways you can use Twitter to promote your business, to find out more give us a call, sign up to our newsletter or subscribe to our blogs!
