We attended the Showcase Networking event in Peterborough recently. We were possibly the most popular stand at the event. This isn’t because of our incredible social media knowledge, our amazing blogging guidance or superb website content recommendations. Instead it was because of our orange fans.
The networking event took place at a school. It was a very hot venue and there was no air conditioning. This left a lot of people hot and bothered after carrying in their bags and promotional materials for their stands. We whipped out an orange fan to cool ourselves off. Then, as someone hot passed us, we would hand them an orange fan too.
These fans were all over the place at the event. However, there is something not many people know about these orange fans. In this blog we tell you the truth about our orange fans!
Earlier this year and last year too, we took our top 30 clients to a day of polo. At this event each client had a little goodie bag. In the goodie bag was 2 bottles of water, a branded pen, some cool sunglasses, a bag of sweets, a packet of polos and an orange fan.
We had to order these fans in bulk so extras were ordered. On the day of the networking event we were emptying the car of things that may have been left in there from the polo, so we could put the things for the showcasing event in the car. It was a hot day and we were getting warm unloading the car – so we got a fan out.
It was then decided these left over orange fans would come with us for a day networking. Sunny days are rare in the UK so this was a good chance to use them, before they were forgotten about in the back of a cupboard.
Due to the fact the fans were part of a branded goodie bag, they did not have their own branding on. So, with some quick thinking we only gave orange fans to people that would take a selfie with their fans and tag us on Facebook.
That afternoon our social media pages went crazy, with people tagging us in their selfies with fans. Sometimes you can do the branding yourself… however it is easier if it is branded in the first place!
