Here at Creative Content Company, we have been marketing our clients’ events for over 12 years. However, in the last 2 years we have been marketing our own events and have learnt a lot of SEO marketing for events.
Each month we run a free networking event in and around the local area. The venue changes each month, as does the date. This means that we need to attract new people to each event due to date and venue change. We do this through SEO and marketing.
For our first event we had posts across social media platforms including LinkedIn and Facebook. We also shared the event to Eventbrite. From the Facebook page, we made sure it was an event on the main Facebook events calendar. Posting on our own social media profiles helped us tell our existing connections about the events. However, it also gets noticed by Google and other search engines. Therefore, our events are seen in search results. The venue or hosting business is tagged too. Not only does this put our event in front of their audience, but it is also another ‘tick’ from search engines as it confirms trust and relationships, making our event more ‘real’,
On our website we have an Upcoming Events page. This lists all our upcoming events. It also gets picked up by Google, and other search engines, for upcoming networking events. Again, this helps boost our SEO ranking on search engines.
When we upload the event details on LinkedIn, Facebook and Eventbrite we include a link back to our website. This is classed as a backlink and gets us ‘points’ from search engines which helps to boost the SEO of the event.
During the event lots of photos and videos are taken. These are then shared online after the event, tagging attendees and including links to upcoming events. Our attendees share these to promote their attendance. This gets our event in front of more people, and it is more ‘points’ from search engines as more people are clicking the link, sharing and talking about our event.
Each of our monthly networking events also celebrates a national day, week or month. This helps towards event SEO too because people are searching for these national celebrations. In addition to the name of the event being the national celebration, Business Networking is also used in the event title and event description. This shows search engines exactly what we do. In turn, it boosts our event SEO and gets our events in front of the right people.
In addition, we have blog posts like these. They link back to other pages on the website and where you can book tickets. These helps to boost the SEO of our business and events.
