Here at Creative Content Company we are always calling in favours from other people in business, especially when it comes to the stuff we do for charities, in the community and for our Careers Days and VisionShift projects – but we always try to repay the favours wherever and whenever we can; hence this latest blog post.
Will Graham works at Peterborough Prison, obviously I have worked with him many times over the last 3 years but he is also one of the main inside contacts that helps make VisionShift the successful event it has been. Will was also one of the 16 people in business that I took to the Careers Awareness Day at Linchfield Community Primary School AND Will very kindly nominated me for Unsung Hero of the Year award which I went on to win in 2016 – so when it comes to owing people a favour, he is towards the top of the list.
Will is running the London Marathon for NDCS (National Deaf Children’s Society), which is oddly enough a charity I donate to on a monthly basis having met some of their collectors at my front door and further to understanding the needs of deaf people through My Sign Tuition.
Will has chosen NDCS for his charity because his eldest daughter is profoundly deaf in her left ear and moderately deaf in her right ear and my youngest has a slight hearing loss in her right ear. They are currently undergoing genetic testing for Pendred Syndrome which may cause permanent hearing loss.
The money you donate to sponsor Will Graham run the marathon will help more than 45,000 deaf children living in the UK. These children are vulnerable to isolation and bullying. They are 60% more likely to experience mental health problems, and twice as likely to suffer from abuse. Many deaf children are underachieving at school, even though deafness is not a learning disability.
