November is National Entrepreneurship Month so I thought I would take this chance to tell you a little bit about me, Hazel Cottrell – the entrepreneur behind Creative Content Company, a small business based in Peterborough for over two years.
First I looked up the definition of ‘Entrepreneurship’ and I found the following;
Entrepreneurship is the willingness to take risks and develop, organize and manage a business venture in a competitive global marketplace that is constantly evolving. Entrepreneurs are pioneers, innovators, leaders and inventors.
I feel that to set up Creative Content Company I definitely took risks that allowed me to develop; it can sometimes be very scary to put your head up above the crowds and stand out there. When I set the business up it was the first time I had not worked for someone else or had a guaranteed salary so it was pretty scary.
I also had no qualifications in social media training, social media management, content creation or newsletter creation so there was a tough of self-doubt when I first set the business up. Were there people out there better than me, people with better skills and level of education? Of course there were, but I had something they didn’t – I had my personality!
When you’re are selling a service, especially a month on month service it’s important you get on with the person you are paying for this ongoing service so it was my personality that scored a lot of work for me. People liked me and I could definitely use that to help boost my confidence of the business. People buy people and people were willing to buy me.
There is definitely a competitive marketplace that is constantly evolving but that’s okay – it’s good that things are always changing. It keeps me on my toes, ensures that no two days are ever the same and offers new challenges that allow me to thrive.
Becoming an entrepreneur was the best thing I have ever done, I’ve had down days but I have never looked back and wished I had done something differently – I love what I do and hope to continue loving it long into the future.
