5th – 11th October is National Work From Home Week. A lot of our clients work from home. This has definitely changed since covid and the lockdown. Here at Creative Content Company, we went from our office to working from home. It’s lower on overheads and gave the team a better work-life balance too. But working from home isn’t always easy. In this blog post we share tips to help you work from home. These are tips are from us and some of our clients.

Hazel, at Creative Content Company says:

  • Have set working hours so you don’t fall into the trap of working late into the night, or ‘just doing’ that chore during working hours.
  • Make a separate space for your business. This means the ‘office’ doesn’t need to move when someone else needs that space.
  • Don’t work in your PJs. It will help that imposter syndrome grow and it will make you feel less focused too.

Kevin of Cappella Computer Solutions says:

  • Create a dedicated space if you don’t have a home office.
  • Make sure you have set working hours.
  • Always take a break during the day.
  • Dress work even if it’s casually.
  • Keep in contact with everyone in your organisation, Teams or Zoom calls.

Julie of Enlivened says:

  • 1. Create a proper workspace (and not in the kitchen!)
If possible, set up your work area away from the kitchen or laundry room. It’s far too tempting to “just pop the washing on” when you’re faced with a boring task. Those jobs are fine as mini-breaks, but only if you can stop yourself from spiralling into housework mode.
  • 2. Test out different environments
Working from home doesn’t have to mean always working at home. Some people thrive in the buzz of a coffee shop, others in total peace and quiet. You may even discover certain tasks are easier in one environment than another. Experiment until you find what helps you focus best.
  • 3. Build a support network
If you’re a lone worker, don’t just rely on family and friends. Join networking groups or communities where you can share ideas, find support, and meet potential customers. It’s not only good for business — it also stops you feeling isolated.

So, these are some top tips for National Work From Home Week that we hope will help you. Do you have any tips for working from home that you think might help?
