If you’ve got a Linkedin account and aren’t posting on your account or engaging with others, then you won’t get a lot from it. You need to share your own things including links to blog posts, articles, thoughts, musings, updates and more. However, you also need to respond to those that engage with you, and make the effort to post on other peoples posts and updates too.

If you are doing all that but still struggling to get more from this business social media tool then we have some tips for you that will help you gain more from Linkedin;

You need to have a real photo of you on your Linkedin profile; a profile with a real photo will gain 14 times more views than a profile without a real photo.

You also need to make sure that your summary is 40 or more words and it needs to include some keywords and phrases too as this means your account is more likely to pop up on searches when people are looking for what you offer.

Make sure you include some skills too; research shows that users that include skills in their Linkedin profiles will get around 13 times more views on their profile that those accounts that haven’t updated or utilised the skills.

It’s a good idea to include an industry in your profile too, either industries you have experience in, are working in or wanting to work in. This can gain you 15 times more views than accounts that don’t state an industry.

There is no point joining groups for the sake of it, but if you are in groups on Linkedin and are active in them, then you are 5 times more likely to be viewed by others in that group. Think carefully about the sorts of groups you want to be in before investing your time in them.

It’s important that you include your education too because research shows that Linkedin users that state their education will receive on average 10 times more views than those profiles where no education is shown.

These are all nice and easy changes that you can do in minutes and you can do them right now, all by yourself. However, if you need any help with Linkedin training or social media management on Linkedin then please let us know – we’d be happy to help!
