We are often asked how businesses can get their audience to engage on social media. Unfortunately, there is no single and simple answer. Each business is different and their audience is different too. Each person in the audience is also different. This means, to get your audience to engage on social media you will need t try different things.
There will be a lot of trial and error. Just because something works really well online for one business, it doesn’t mean it will for you. Timings for audience engagement will be different too. One business may get really good audience engagement at 10am, but your audience engage better on social media later in the day.
It’s only when you have tried different posts, days and times that you can see what works. You need data from your trials and errors to measure what works, and also what doesn’t work.
Here are some things you can look at to get your audience to engage on social media:
- What content are you sharing that is being engaged with the most? Once you know what content is most popular for engagement, you can create more of it.
- Compare content types against each other. Do you get more engagement on your own videos or videos you share? Are quizzes popular, or live events? Is there lots of engagement for competitions? Which prizes are more popular?
- Look at the days and times that you are posting. What times and days gets more engagement. To figure this out, you need to post the same content type at different times and on different days.
- Check the length of your text and videos too. What video length gets your more engagement on social media for your business? Do longer posts get more interaction than shorter posts?
Once you have figured that out, you’ll be able to get your audience to engage on social media. Remember, it is a case of trial and error. You will need to try posting different things at different times to see what works best for your audience.
