Step One:

The first thing you need to do when choosing an evergreen blog topic is find content that your audience are interested in. They come to your website for relevant industry, business, product or service blog posts. Think about relevant blog topics that your audience are interested in. Step Two:

Next, you need to take out any topics that talk about a certain time of the year, such as Christmas, Easter or summer holidays for example. Remove all the ideas about one-time events or recent developments in your industry too. These will not be recent developments if you were share the blog post again in 3 years’ time, for example.

Step Three:

Now you need to go through your list of evergreen blog topic ideas and take out the ones that cover news and trends in your industry. For example, working from home may be a trend in your industry at the moment, due to coronavirus, but it will not be a trend if you were to share the blog post again in a few years’ time.

Step Four:

Go through your list for a final time and take out all the topics that could become quickly outdated. For example, if you are a hairdresser then latest autumn styles could be very outdated in a years’ time. The same goes for news about celebrities that may be forgotten years, or even months down the line.
