Some businesses spend hours on end thinking about what to post on social media, how to post it and when to post it. Other business owners pop on once a week maximum, and try and catch up on everything then. So, how much time do small businesses spend on social media?

However, wondering about how much time small businesses spend on social media really got us thinking.

Research shows that 43% of business owners spend 6 hours or more on social media every single week. Meanwhile 25% of business owners spend between 6 hours and 10 hours on social media every single week. 11% of business owners spend 11 hours to 20 hours a week on social media.

Finally, 7% of business owners have admitted to spending over 21 hours a week on social media.

This is a HUGE amount of time. Even here at Creative Content Company we spend no more than 20 hours a week on social media. However that is posts on our social media and posts on our clients’ social media pages too.

So are business owners happy spending that much time on social media each week?

The research from Vertical Response went on to show that 63% of CEOs, business owners and proprietors spend 1-5 hours a week on social media. 25% of CEOs, business owners and proprietors spend 6-10 hours on social media each week.

However, 11-20 hours a week on social media is spent by 8.5% of CEOs, business owners and proprietors spend. Finally 5.5% of CEOs, business owners and proprietors spend over 20 hours a week on social media.

That said, a third of all CEOs, business owners and proprietors stated that they want to spend less time on social media.
