Have you heard that we are on the committee for Peterborough SportsAid? We are currently helping raise money for talented young people in sports with Paul Merson. 3-4 times a year we have a guest speaker that is a well know sports personality. This time, on 3rd April 2020, we have Paul Merson, a true Arsenal Legend and one of the most interesting pundits on TV.
We have a sports lunch event where attendees will hear some funny, interesting and fascinating stories from Paul Merson. Attendees will enjoy a 2 course meal (main and dessert of course!) and can take part in the raffle with some amazing prizes up for grabs.
This event, and SportsAid Peterborough, raises essential funds. The money we raise goes towards talented young people in sports. Sometimes their only sponsor is ‘the bank of mum and dad’. As all parents know, this is not a never-ending supply of money. Our donation goes towards their coaching, training, travel, accommodation and sports kit for example. All of these essential things can quickly add up and this money helps keep young adults in the sport they are talented in and enjoy.
At each event we invite at least one of the young adults we sponsor. We will invite them to meet the sports personality and enjoy a meal with their parents. They will be given the opportunity to tell the room about who they are, what they do and how well they are doing in their sporting career. We will then donate them with a cheque to support them in their journey.
