With less than two weeks left to nominate a lady worthy of a DevelopHER award I felt I just had to share a blog post about the awards and DevelopHER itself – as I won Unsung Hero last year, and I can assure, I wasn’t very ‘unsung’ after winning the award.

The DevelopHER awards were set up by Vikki and were designed to recognise women working in technology while encouraging others and the next generation to join this industry. It’s a great chance to shine a light on those women that may not have been otherwise noticed in a male dominated sector of business.

When I was nominated, shortlisted and then won the award last year I was over the moon. I had been nominated for the work I did in the community with Creative Networking, the OpenCity project and at Peterborough Prison. I gained loads of publicity and am always forced to smile when I see the award in the office – and I want others to feel this way too!

The sponsors for these awards include companies like Google, Naked Element, Hays, Barclays, Cooper Lomaz (who presented me with my award last year) and many others – creating an awards ceremony with some amazing networking opportunities too.

You can nominate people for the following awards;

  • Agile Angel Award
  • App Developer Award
  • Apprentice Award
  • Best Newcomer Award
  • Digital Marketer Award
  • Emerging Talent Award
  • Entrepreneur Award
  • Eye for Design Award
  • Game Developer Award
  • Innovation Award
  • Inspiration Award
  • Mentor Award
  • Tech Star Award
  • Tester Award
  • Unsung Hero Award
  • User Experience Award

If you know someone that you think is worthy of such an award then why not nominate them, it’s completely free of charge to nominate someone and all you need to do is put together a few words about why you think they should be nominated for the award – then wait for the phone call from them as they find out they have been nominated, shortlisted or even won the award!

Just click here to nominate someone – but remember, you have less than two weeks;
