You may have seen my earlier blog post about living my dinosaur dream, by becoming a dinosaur for the day with Little Miracles Charity in Peterborough. Well, I have also been a unicorn for the day too.

Here is what happened. I got sent the photos of me in the costume and the children I had made smile. They made me laugh at how much fun I had. So, I sent them to some friends. One friend replied that he had a unicorn costume I was welcome to borrow. A quick text to Michelle of Little Miracles and I quickly found myself dressed as a unicorn for the day for their Rainbow activity.

If this doesn’t show how desperate the charity is for volunteers, I don’t know what does. The team do amazing work at creating activities and themed events for children and their families. Having an offer from a volunteer, dressed as a unicorn, is the sort of offer they love.

This is what Emily, the Head of Development at Little Miracles Charity had to say:

“Volunteers are the heartbeat of days like Rainbow Day. Their enthusiasm and willingness to join in means we can offer even more magic for the children and young people we support. Hazel, you embraced the day from the moment you signed up. Your sparkle, laughter, and kindness were felt by every family here. You helped create memories that will be treasured for years to come. To everyone thinking about volunteering, your time can truly make dreams come true.”

If you happen to have a fancy dress outfit or some spare time on your hands, drop Little Miracles a line. Whether you could be a unicorn for the day, a dinosaur for the day, do some colouring or play on the park – your time is much appreciated. If you have an outfit, but you don’t have the time, I would be more than happy to help out. Let me know the costume you have. I can be that outfit for the day.
