Today is the day of the Peterborough Small Business Awards. A massive day for around 100 small businesses in Peterborough. Sadly this year I am on holiday in Spain and this means I will be missing the awards ceremony tonight. I can honestly say I am gutted.

Last year was an incredible event, this year Laura has got Elite Events on board too. I have heard some of the secrets of the night and know that all attendees will be in for a treat.

I just wanted to take the time to say Congratulations to you all. I nearly wrote Good Luck to Peterborough Small Business Awards Finalists, but quickly changed the title. Of course, the title of this blog post had to be Congratulations to Peterborough Small Business Awards Finalists. They have come so far!

Reports from 2018 show that there was a huge boost in businesses being formed in Peterborough during 2017. 1,779 companies were registered in Peterborough during this year. It is the highest number the city has ever seen and was more than any other area of Cambridgeshire.

This means that by the end of 2017 there were 9,393 companies registered in Peterborough. In theory, this is a rough guide of how many businesses you were competing against to be a Peterborough Small Business Awards Finalist in 2019.

I think it is important to note that in 2017 1,192 businesses dissolved to. If you are still in business over 1 year later then you need to give yourself a pat on the back. Running your own business is hard work and this is a huge achievement.

This is why the blog post is titled Congratulations to Small Business Awards Finalists and not Good Luck. What you have achieved by being one of the 100 finalists this year is huge. You were up against around 9,000 other businesses – yet you are the business that made finalist!

I hope you all have a wonderful night, I’m really sorry I can’t be there to join you. Finally, make sure you celebrate every win in business, no matter how small it may seem. The small wins get us to the big wins!
