As you may know by now, I am a volunteer for Light Project Peterborough and the Winter Night Shelter, we help the homeless people of Peterborough with temporary accommodation, food, drink, and general other things such as form filling, doctors and avenues for employment during the coldest months of the year.

This year we have gained some finding for a drop-in centre for the homeless of Peterborough to really help them get back on their feet – but this will need some help / support from you.

“The Garden House project is a six month pilot of a Drop-In Centre for the homeless.

It is a joint venture with Peterborough Cathedral and Peterborough City Council and will work in conjuction with the Light Project Peterborough Winter Night Shelter which is already in place.

The Garden House House will provide a loving and warm environment that will enable those who are marginalised to engage with a range of services such as housing, financial and medical advice.

This pilot will be a really practical step in transforming lives this coming winter.

If successful, the plan is to create a permanent hub for those who need it most at the heart of our City of Peterborough.

Businesses should get involved if they want to see a real and lasting change take place in Peterborough by tackling one of the major issues facing the City”.

We need computers, laptops or tablets for the 2 staff that are running the project. Over time we will need additional computers, laptops or tablets for those attending the drop-in centre that need help on the computer or IT training for example.

We also need the materials and manpower for a picket fence to close off the area in which The Garden House Project is based; whether you can donate the materials with us or you are able to help us put these fences up we would be very grateful.

Monetary donations are also required for other areas of the project so if you would like to make a donation or arrange a fundraiser for this project we would be very grateful.
