Business Award Nomination – Top 10 Successful Women Making A Difference

When you think of successful women making a difference you probably think of women like Greta Thunberg, Rosa Parks or Michelle Obama for example? You probably don’t think about Hazel Andrews-Oxlade, the small business owner of Creative Content Company? Definitely not as a one of the top 10 most successful women making a difference anyway.

Yet here we are. We got an email recently, which weirdly went into our spam (?). It said that Hazel had been nominated as one of the Top 10 Successful Women Making a Difference.

In fairness, the award didn’t say where. So, maybe it was in the world – in which case, very impressive. Or maybe it was in her house. In which case, it’s her, her husband, her stepdaughter and three female cats. Out of those 5 women in the house, she would be in the top 10 of most successful women making a difference.

For the tiny amount of $2,000 we can have a cover story feature in an unknown magazine. This includes a front cover feature, an in-depth story, advertisements and much more. It’s normally $6,000 for this. However, as one of the top 10 most successful women making a difference it was offered to me for just a third of that price.

So, without p###ing all over Hazel’s fire, we decided that it could be a spam email. However, it did get us thinking.

If I’m making a difference, even in my own tiny way, isn’t that a good thing? As a business, we are helping to boost the online presence of local businesses. That’s making a difference to the businesses, their employees, families and customers.

As a small business owner, I am showing others what is possible. Maybe seeing my journey has inspired others to start their own business? That’s making a difference too? Then there is the community and charity projects we get involved in too. Maybe that’s making a difference too?

Granted – Hazel might not be a top 10 successful woman making a difference, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t making a difference? It doesn’t mean that you can’t make a difference either.

So, I challenge you – how can you make a difference in your own little world?
